Memberships are a fixed-term paid pass you sell to your own audience, separate from event tickets — a season pass or a supporter tier rather than a ticket to one event. Manage plans, benefits and members under Settings → Membership.
What you can do here
- Plans — create one or more membership plans, each with its own name, interval (monthly or yearly) and price, set in your payment currency.
- Benefits — switch on early access to booking, a lower member price on chosen ticket types, members-only ticket types, a members-only event, waitlist priority, and a number of free tickets per term.
- Members — the list of everyone holding a membership, past or active, with their term and status.
- Member card — each member gets a public link they can show at the door as proof of membership.
How billing works
- A membership runs for its term — a month or a year — and then ends. There is no auto-renew: nothing is charged again automatically, and it is not a subscription.
- Members are emailed a renewal reminder 14 days before their membership expires, and again at 7 days, each sent once. Renewing is something the member does themselves.
- The price you set on a plan is what the buyer pays, VAT included. You choose your own VAT rate for the plan, and the invoice extracts the tax from that figure rather than adding it on top.
- Every membership purchase produces an invoice through your own invoice numbering, whether or not you have ticket invoicing switched on.
Stripe and refunds
- Selling memberships needs the same Stripe Connect setup as selling paid tickets: an active connected account with card payments enabled. If that is missing, the page names the specific reason — not connected, charges not enabled, card payments missing, or the gateway switched off — rather than a generic message.
- You are the merchant on a membership charge, the same as on a ticket sale: the charge sits on your Stripe account, and a refund comes out of your balance.
- A member has a 14-day right of withdrawal: a full, self-service refund, whether or not they used any benefit, stated on the checkout page before they pay. You can also revoke a membership yourself at any time, which refunds it in full.
Good to know
- A member price on a ticket type can only make it cheaper, never more expensive — if a flash sale or another discount already brings the price below the member price, that cheaper price is what the buyer gets.
- The public member count on your profile is optional — a toggle you switch on if you want to show it.
- The Members segment for email campaigns includes everyone with an active membership, even someone who has never bought an event ticket from you.
- Early access, the member price, members-only ticket types and free tickets per term are all set per ticket type or per event, wherever you switch them on — none of them apply automatically across everything you run.
Troubleshooting
- No button to sell memberships — this follows the same Stripe gate as paid tickets; see Setting Up Stripe Connect for what an active connected account with card payments enabled needs.
- A member says their member price did not apply — the member price only ever lowers a ticket’s price. If another discount or a flash sale is already cheaper, that price wins and nothing is wrong.
- “Why can’t I offer monthly billing that renews automatically?” — memberships are fixed-term by design, with no auto-renew. A member renews themselves, prompted by the 14- and 7-day reminder emails.
